Talks and Prevention Against Cancer

As part of the activities for breast cancer awareness and prevention, the municipal government of Puerto Vallarta, led by Luis Munguía, has extended an important invitation to the general public. The main objective is to promote awareness about this disease and, at the same time, provide tools for early detection. Through the Municipal DIF System, informative talks will be held, and powerful life testimonies will be shared. Additionally, the first attendees will receive certificates for mammograms.

Claudia Peña Gómez, president of the Municipal DIF System, emphasized the key role that prevention plays in the fight against breast cancer. In collaboration with Grupo Diagnosti-k, the event will offer women the opportunity to attend two free talks that will cover fundamental topics about breast cancer, including self-examination techniques for early detection of abnormalities. Attendees will also receive certificates that will allow them to undergo mammography, a crucial exam for detecting tumors.

“We understand that prevention is key to detecting this disease in time; for this reason, we will offer two free talks about breast cancer and self-examination techniques, along with certificates for mammograms,” Peña Gómez stated, highlighting the importance of such initiatives for the health of women in Puerto Vallarta.

The event will feature the participation of prominent health professionals, ensuring the quality of the information shared. The talks will be given by Dr. Román Aréchiga Araiza, a gynecologist-obstetrician specializing in breast pathology, along with nurses Estefanía Guzmán Sánchez and Karen Yasbet Olmos Ramírez, obstetrics specialists from the “We Care” agency. These medical experts, with extensive experience in the treatment and diagnosis of breast diseases, will provide essential knowledge for the timely detection and prevention of breast cancer, offering practical guidance for attendees.

One of the most emotional moments of the event will be the presentation of three life testimonies offered by breast cancer survivors, members of the Bennu A.C. Group. These personal stories not only provide hope but also reinforce the importance of early detection and advances in treatments for this disease. Hearing the experiences of women who have faced and overcome cancer is a powerful way to inspire others to get regular check-ups and become more aware of their health.

Cynthia Valenzuela López, director of the Municipal DIF System, reiterated the invitation to the entire Puerto Vallarta community to attend this important event. The event will take place on October 18, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in the main square of the Municipal DIF offices, located at Av. Paseo de las Palmas s/n, Col. Barrio Santa María. This event is designed to be accessible to everyone interested in learning more about breast cancer, whether they seek support, information, or prevention.

Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death among women worldwide, but when detected early, it has a high cure rate. Self-examination techniques and mammograms are essential for identifying any abnormalities in the early stages of the disease. Community events like this not only educate the public about the importance of self-examination but also allow women to access exams that can make a significant difference in their health.

The fight against breast cancer is a cause that affects everyone, and prevention is one of the best tools to combat it. Events like the one organized by the Puerto Vallarta government and the Municipal DIF System are a crucial step in educating and raising awareness among the population, providing vital resources to local women. On October 18, women in Puerto Vallarta have an invaluable opportunity to inform themselves, take care of their health, and join the fight against this disease.
