How A Family Came to Vallarta and Acheived.

Meet the Ada Sailing Crew

We are delighted to welcome you to Ada Sailing. Our sailing tour company has been a success thanks to our Ada Sailing Crew. It’s made up of an amazing captain, first mate and two remarkable crew members. Together, we share our dream of taking to the world’s most beautiful bay season after season.

Captain Jorge

Jorge GleasonAt the helm is Captain Jorge, a Guadalajara native who has been maneuvering the waves of the Pacific Ocean for 25 years

Three years ago, he joined the team and has been sharing his love of the “total Banderas Bay experience” with our Ada Sailing guests.

Of all Ada Sailing tours, the overnighters are Captain Jorge’s favorite adventure. He calls them the “total sailing package.”

With playful marine life, the smell of salt, the starry sky and rolling waters of the ocean—these specialty tours are phenomenal. Captain Jorge favorite sailing destination is Majahuitas, a protected cove situated between Quimixto and Yelapa, just 15 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta. When he isn’t wowing Ada Sailing guests with Ada Sailing-style hospitality, Jorge spends time with his family. Outdoor adventures, fishing, bicycling with his twins—Puerto Vallarta holds all the endless fun this sailor could want.

First Mate Tony

TonyBorn in the seaside destination of Puerto Vallarta, First Mate Tony has been building his sailing skills on the water for 15 years.

He joined us as a part of the Ada Sailing Crew for the 2013-2014 season, and serves as the First Mate on Ada and the Captain of Bruna.Tony’s favorite sailing getaway is Marietas Island because it offers the most beautiful waters for snorkeling.

With waters overfilling with colorful marine life, it makes for a perfect sailing adventure. The “sweetest moment” is turning off the motors and coasting to the whim of the Banderas Bay. But the most memorable moment of this season so far has been the up-close-and-personal encounter he had with a Humpback whale.

You can see Tony enjoying their version of a warm Mexican welcome!

Crew Mate Alma

Almas-working-at-teh-boatAlmas-working-at-teh-boat Alma, the newest member to Ada Sailing, is a mother of two kids, and now a huge fan of being on the Banderas Bay in a sailboat.

Her favorite destination is the beautiful Marietas Islands.Alma is the Crew Mate who’s in charge of the Ada kitchen. Her specialty is the Ada Sailing vegan menu, but she also serves up tasty desserts and drinks.

When she’s not treating guests to first-class service aboard Ada, Crew Mate Alma is developing her handicraft business. In fact, you can enjoy her brilliant work with our embellished “thank you for joining us” bookmarkers.

 Crew Mate Andrea

AndieAlthough we call her a Crew Mate, Andrea is really a “Jill of All Trades.”

She is not only my beloved daughter, but she is the Ada Sailing concierge,Andie chef, booking agent, customer service representative, photographer, marketing wizard and social media manager.

As an instrumental part of building the company, adding new services—and often new menu items—Andrea loves sharing the entire Ada Sailing experience with new and returning guests from around the world. She believes every day is a gift of new experiences.

The water, the skyline, the smiles on faces of those trying her latest cuisine creations, and even turning off the motor to enjoy the salty air and refreshing breezes holds a certain kind of appeal for Andrea. When asked what her favorite destination in the Banderas Bay is, she offers two: The north for a day of motor-free sailing in the winter; and the south for its endless water activities in the summer.

Ernesto in Memory

Marta and IAs for me, I was born in Argentina and have lived in Mexico City for 35 years. But I was drawn to the charm, weather and location of Puerto Vallarta. It must have been where I was meant to be because not only did I establish Ada Sailing, but it was here where I met my beautiful wife, Marta.

Marta is from San Francisco and has been at my side for the last 4 years, sharing this sailing dream with me and our Ada Sailing family.

I named our boats to honor two other incredible women who have touched my life: Ada (my mother) and Bruna (my aunt). Both were instrumental in making me the man I am today, and with their encouragement, Marta, Andrea and I can share our love of the water and this area with you today.

So, thank you for being a part of our journey. We appreciate your support, kind words and TripAdvisor testimonials. (In fact, at the beginning of the 2013-2014 season, we were ranked #28. And now, just 4 months later, we’re #13! We couldn’t have done it without you.)

With endless gratitude,

Andrea (Andie)
