UNIRSE Becomes an Operations Center After Hurricane Lidia.


The Regional Unit of State Services in Jalisco, located in Puerto Vallarta, has transformed into the Emergency Operations Center following the passage of Hurricane "Lidia." Various levels of government will cooperate to work together and address adverse situations that may arise after the meteorological event that has been announced for several days. This morning, members of the Federal Government, Navy commanders, the Mexican Army, authorities from the State of Jalisco, and the cabinet of the Municipal President of Puerto Vallarta, "Profe Michel," gathered.

In the next three hours, heavy rains with very heavy localized downpours and possible electrical discharges are forecasted for Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima, and Michoacán. Lidia has rapidly intensified into a Category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson scale. Its center is located 200 km southwest of Cabo Corrientes, Jalisco, and 260 km southwest of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco.

In Puerto Vallarta, significant rainfall is expected starting from 1:30 pm, with wind gusts increasing in strength after the passage of the hurricane. It is recommended to secure large windows with adhesive tape and move away from them. Avoid areas that are prone to flooding, such as the beach or places near rivers, and instead, seek higher ground.

There are approximately 12 shelters prepared to assist those affected, although they have not been opened at this time. The government will have them ready when the need arises.
