Activities kicked off this Friday in the region.


With Spain and the state of Guanajuato as guest country, as well as chef Dominique Creen as guest of honor, the 14th edition of the Vallarta - Nayarit Gastronómica was inaugurated this Friday in this city, an event that gathers important chefs and professionals of the culinary art and mixology worldwide, on this occasion from October 12 to 18.

During the protocol ceremony, Councilman Pablo Ruperto Gómez Andrade pointed out that Puerto Vallarta, besides being a tourist destination, also generates professionals who join the tourist activities of the port, Mexico and the world.

"We have the conviction that this type of events makes us greater, because we know of the great gastronomic variety that we have not only in the bay, but in all of Mexico."

He said that on this occasion that the Vallarta - Nayarit Gastronomic is dedicated to sustainability, it should be permanently considered, especially by the young people who are forging this dynamic, "because we have to take care of the environment, the raw material and the quality of the products".

HERE IS THE BEST OF THE GASTRONOMIC SECTOR

The welcome to this gastronomic encounter was in charge of Consuelo Elipe and Carlos Elizondo, general director and director of Vallarta - Nayarit Gastronómica, respectively, who emphasized that on this occasion they are receiving the most relevant chefs in the world, Michelin Stars, 50 Best and Top Chef who will be sharing their culinary knowledge live.

In addition, the extensive program includes the world of wine, tastings, gourmet workshops, tastings and the most avant-garde mixology, with the presence of guest states that will showcase their gastronomic and tourist offerings.

Carlos Elizondo emphasized that in this edition sustainability will play a leading role with the Nebulosa Project located in San Sebastián del Oeste, and the seas, the mountains, livestock, the biocultural landscape, deforestation and sustainable gastronomy will be central themes in this meeting.

GUESTS AND ATTENDEES

The opening ceremony was also attended by Fernando Villalba Torres, Tourism Counselor of the Spanish Embassy in Mexico. As Spain is once again the guest country at this event, renowned chefs such as Diego Gallegos, Kisco García and representatives of the Basque Culinary Center, whose Director General Joxe Mari Aizega, who was present, addressed a message to the attendees.

Juan José Álvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato, guest state for the sixth time at the Vallarta - Nayarit Gastronomic Festival; Jorge Antonio Quintero Alvarado, Director of Tourism for the southern zone of the state of the Secturjal; Grecia López Regalado, representing the Secretary of Tourism of Nayarit, also participated in the event; José Ludwig Estrada Virgen, director of Tourism and Economic Development of Puerto Vallarta; Ángel Sarmiento, manager of the Sheraton Hotel, venue of the event; Jesús Carmona, president of the Banderas Bay Hotel Association; chef Dominique Crenn, awarded with three Michelin stars, and Antonio Montesinos, general director of CEGAHO (Centro Empresarial Gastronómico Hotelero), among others.

On behalf of the Governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro Ramírez, Susana Rodríguez Mejía declared the activities of this event inaugurated.
