It will be in the catch and release modality
The 66th edition of the Puerto Vallarta International Fishing Tournament will take place from November 9 to 12 and for the first time the sailfish category will be in the catch and release modality, in order to contribute to the recovery of this marine species.
In a press conference, members of the board of directors of the Puerto Vallarta Sport Fishing Club, headed by the current president, Rodolfo Bárcenas Escudero, emphasized that for this reason the name of the event this time is designated as 'Marlin and Tuna Fishing Tournament', which will distribute a prize purse worth close to one and a half million pesos.
The director of Tourism and Municipal Economic Development, Ludwig Estrada Virgen, emphasized that this is one of the most traditional events of the destination, the main sport tourism event in Puerto Vallarta, which is why it has the support of the government headed by Professor Luis Alberto Michel Rodriguez.
"It is an event that has continued to grow and that gives great diffusion to the destination, attracts an important number of foreigners who for three generations have participated in the tournament and that in this 2022, which has been excellent in the tourism sector, will surely be a great success", he pointed out.
Also present were Vice Admiral Fernando Ríos Sosa, Commander of the XII Naval Zone; Eulogio López Rodríguez and David Zaragoza Camacho, from the Fishing Club, the director of the Tourism Trust, Luis Villaseñor Nolasco and sponsors.
