In Jalisco a series of actions have been carried out to prevent the disease in the population, with a high degree of effectiveness.

During the current dry season, the Jalisco Ministry of Health (SSJ) maintains preventive actions against dengue, and calls on the population to join in the elimination of possible mosquito breeding sites, in order to reduce the risk of contagion during the rainy season, when mosquitoes that transmit the disease proliferate. The strategy has achieved that for seven consecutive weeks no case of the disease has been confirmed in the state; and that to date only one non-serious case of dengue has been reported so far in 2022 (reported in epidemiological week 01 of the year). As part of the preventive actions, this week SSJ brigadistas are going house to house in the Crucero de la Mesa neighborhood, located in the north of the municipality of Zapopan, carrying out various activities to prevent dengue infections, a disease transmitted by the female Aedes aegypti mosquito. "We started larval control activities on Tuesday, March 1, intradomiciliary spraying in the positive blocks of the area," said the coordinator of the Vector and Zoonosis program of the Sanitary Region X Zapopan-Centro, María de los Ángeles Gómez Partida. "With such works, a population of 34,400 inhabitants will be protected.
The actions will be carried out by 18 larva control brigadistas", detailed the coordinator, after indicating that a total of 62 blocks will be worked in this area, applying the simple but effective strategy: Wash, Cover, Turn over and Throw away, whose main purpose is to eliminate and clean the deposits that can reproduce the mosquito that transmits dengue fever. So far, 26 ovitraps have been installed in the Crucero de la Mesa neighborhood where 10 have been positive for the mosquito with a total of 478 eggs. "This is a priority neighborhood that year after year gives us a lot of problems with the presence of dengue cases," said Gomez Partida.
CITIZEN ORIENTATION María de los Ángeles Gómez Partida, pointed out that in each visit the inhabitants are oriented on the symptoms of the disease and how to prevent it, in addition to avoid the reproduction of the mosquito in the treatable deposits (water tanks, sinks, cisterns) a non-toxic chemical for humans and pets is applied, the controllable containers (bottles, drums) are cleaned and the disposable ones (containers, tires) the owners are invited to throw them away to avoid the reproduction of the mosquito. In spite of the COVID-19 pandemic, the SSJ has not stopped working on preventive actions against dengue, and under security measures continues to intervene house by house. The brigadistas are equipped with personal protective equipment, such as gloves and masks. Given the low presence of cases, the SSJ reiterates the call to the population to apply the strategy to eliminate possible mosquito breeding sites and to allow access to the brigadistas who come duly identified, in order to achieve a better impact in the prevention and containment of dengue.
