In the last few weeks there has been a noticeable decrease in covid-19 infections in Puerto Vallarta and Jalisco as well as in the whole world.


In Europe, the use of mouth covers in outdoor areas is beginning to be discontinued and covid-19 infections have dropped considerably. Spain has already eliminated the use of masks in open areas, which could be the beginning of the end of the pandemic in the world
Although in the last week there has been a decrease in the number of Covid-19 infections in Puerto Vallarta and in Jalisco in general, after the fourth peak registered between January and the beginning of February, there is still time to stabilize. This is due to the fact that there are events that propitiate mobility in the following weeks and it will be necessary for the Holy Week and Easter vacation period to pass from April 10th to April 22nd. According to projections by the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) of the University of Washington, in Jalisco the final decrease of the last wave of infections could occur from the last week of April and the first week of May, once the first vacation period of the year is over due to the mobility that this implies.

MAINTAINING SANITARY MEASURES According to the analysis, cases are expected to stabilize from the second half of May onwards, as long as the prevention measures and vaccination strategy that have been established until today continue; in other words, the measures must not be relaxed in order to have an effect in the foreseen period. A similar behavior occurred for the same dates in 2021, when there was a plateau in infections from the last week of April to the first week of June. However, from the second week onwards there was again an increase in infections, so it cannot be ruled out that this could happen again. For the time being, IHME projections indicate that at least from May 15 to 31 there could be between 1,800 and 1,400 daily infections, including cases not detected by virus detection tests.
