With freestyle, experimental, and youthful styles.
Last Saturday at Plaza Caracol, the first "Open Style Experimental" youth Hip Hop competition took place. Dozens of young dancers between the ages of 13 and 29 faced off in this event. The competition was organized by "Jam Experimental," a company dedicated to promoting this dance movement and providing training for those interested.
The dancers delivered outstanding performances, creating an atmosphere of healthy competition, overflowing creativity, and mixed emotions as many veteran dancers attended to witness the talent of the new generations. "Jam Experimental" serves as a space for the local community, performers, and artists in the dance scene.
The people of Vallarta were delighted, entertained, and thrilled to see and experience the new youthful talents. Despite competing to determine the best, the dancers genuinely enjoyed dancing and left their hearts on the stage, receiving enthusiastic applause from the audience. Throughout the 4-hour event, the crowd remained steadfast and determined, with some reminiscing about the past and others joyfully acknowledging that dance is far from dying; instead, it rejuvenates with elements born from the creativity of the new generations, young individuals who are eager to succeed.
The competition featured various dynamics, with performances sometimes as pairs, solo, or in groups. The young dancers faced challenges such as incorporating objects into their routines, engaging in dance interactions with each other, and skillfully handling stage props to enhance their improvisational and creative pieces. The event exuded an atmosphere of peace, harmony, and camaraderie as the participants accepted the judges' decisions and celebrated a collective victory.
