Meet the best parkour athletes in Mexico.

The Parkour Challenge Puerto Vallarta 2024 will take place in a professional event aimed solely at showcasing parkour, where you can meet the best parkour athletes in Mexico. This event will feature the best jumps, acrobatics, and tricks. It is organized by the Institute of Youth Care of the Municipality of Puerto Vallarta.

The history of parkour dates back to the early twentieth century, with a French naval lieutenant who was inspired by foreign cities to create a physical training plan focused on moving efficiently through the available environment, calling it the Natural Method. Later, in the 1980s, a French teenager named David Belle learned this discipline from his father, a war veteran and firefighter. He renamed it parkour, a sport that has grown significantly worldwide.

In Puerto Vallarta, parkour is very popular among teenagers, as the jumps and the strength required for the moves attract a lot of attention from tourists. This is why you can always find groups of young people practicing parkour in all the parks and public squares of Puerto Vallarta, especially at the Agustín Flores Contreras Sports Center, colloquially known as "The Stadium in front of the Sheraton."

Although critics of parkour claim that it can be dangerous for practitioners, encourage trespassing, and cause property damage, many people have died over the years attempting dangerous stunts such as jumping from rooftop to rooftop or climbing very high walls. Despite the controversy and risks, it has been recognized worldwide as a sport that continues to grow with the help of knowledgeable enthusiasts.

Join us on Saturday, June 8, from 5 to 10 pm at the velarias esplanade of the Puerto Vallarta Malecón. Admission is free, so bring the whole family.
